Thai bodywork involves rhythmic pressure along energy or 'sen' lines as well as deeply relaxing stretches  that bring you to a place of harmony and balance in your body and mind.

Thai Bodywork is informed by yoga and Ayurveda from India and by Chinese medicine and acupuncture meridians. Thai bodywork is an integral part of the Thai medical system and has been for  thousands of years.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothes: long sleeved shirt and long pants.

I've had many Thai sessions over the years, most of them during a visit to Thailand. My session with Alice is the only one that comes close to what I experienced in Thailand. She's fantastic and I highly recommend her if you like strong, confident bodywork sessions. She's also an amazing Gyrotonic instructor. Thanks so much from one bodyworker to another!

Correcting Your Body Map

How can you get to where you want to go with a faulty map? If your map is wrong you might walk in circles for the rest of your vacation. If your Body Map is wrong you will most certainly spiral downward for the rest of your life. I know this sounds dramatic, but the fact of the matter is, it’s true.

The human body is designed quite specifically and that design has been in place for at least 50,000 years. Yet most of my clients have no idea how their body is supposed to work. Furthermore, most of my client’s bodies work very poorly when they come in to see me for the first time. Once upon a time, humans didn’t need to know, because they ‘did’. They used their bodies from sun-up to sun-down, gathering, hunting, climbing, digging, squatting, building, running, walking, planting, singing, dancing, etc. Think about your typical week. How much of that do you do? Lot’s? Great! You probably don’t need my help. But chances are you do very little of those fundamentally human activities. Unfortunately now ‘fundamental’ human activities are typing, gaming, driving & sitting (at school, to study, at work, to relax, to eat, to defecate, to drive, etc). And let’s face it, who sits upright most of the time?! It’s actually a wonder that we mange to do anything physical at all given this litany of body-crippling behaviors that describe many modern humans.

And so we come back to our Body Maps. No wonder most people have no idea how their bodies work and probably never even thought about. Unfortunately American culture hasn’t thought about it either which is why this important and potentially life-saving (and certainly health-care budget saving) topic is included nowhere in our school curriculums.

Chances are you are hearing about this for the first time in your life which may be half or more over because you are now experiencing so much pain and dysfunction you can no longer ignore it. If you happen to be reading this before that point in your life, I implore you not to continue to ignore it! Even a few lessons in how to correct your Body Map will help you for the rest of your life!

So people, wait no longer, no matter how old you are or how far you’ve spiraled downward! That spiral can be reversed, not entirely, but every bit helps. But we’ll have to use a short cut because you won’t be running out to gather, squat, climb, dig, dance and sing tomorrow, although power to you if you do! The short cut is the winning combination of my brain and yours. What I mean is that once you use your brain to learn what I can teach you, AND you continually reinforce your new and improved habits and bio-mechanics, AND you increase strength and flexibility where they are needed in your body, you may find yourself out of pain, greatly energized and generally feeling much more optimistic about your future on earth.

Time & Dedication

It took you 50 years to get here, but it won’t take you 50 years to get out. However, it will take time and dedication. The less fit you are or the more entrenched you are in your (dysfunctional) way of inhabiting your body, the longer it will take to make changes. Changes come with consistent reinforcement. Therefore, it’s best to come in for sessions as often as your time and financial budget allow. But regardless of how often you come in for lessons, you must continue the practices at home!

Hope to see you soon and more often!
